2gether: The series (Fall in love with Sarawat & Tine)

The quarantine gave us so much leisure time that we almost discover some of our hidden talents (sort of). We look for things and activities to do just to ease the boredom we feel. In my case, I’ve watched every unwatched video that I have saved on YouTube. Every time I opened my YouTube app, there is this video always appearing on my feed. The title is familiar to me because it is always a trending topic on Twitter. So out of my curiosity, I started watching the 2gether: The Series. You can watch it first because my review might give you spoilers.

2gether: The Series is a Boys Love genre or what every fan call it as BL series. The story started about Tine, a first-year college student looking for the right one because his past relationships just didn’t work out. Then suddenly he met Sarawat, also a first-year college student who is the Mr. Popular guy in the campus that loves music. With all the commotion happening in Tine’s life, the love he’s searching was unexpectedly not what he’s expecting. This Thai Drama has a book, but I’ve never read it yet. I’ll read it some other time to compare it to the series.

Now, let us talk about why everyone who’s reading this should watch 2gether: The Series A.S.A.P.! I’ll give you the reasons why:

1. Romantic-Comedy Story

Who doesn’t like rom-com? Come on, everyone loves rom-com. The story of 2gether the series are light, fun, nostalgic, lovely, and make you feel that you deserved to be loved. Love will just come in your way without expecting it. You will always have that “kilig” feeling which will tickle your guts until it burst into a colorful butterflies. It’s so good that you will envy the chemistry of Sarawat and Tine. SANA ALL! The energy of this series will just bring you back to your happy school day memories. You will remember the bonding with your friends, the singing sessions, the field, the events in your school, etc. It is playful in a way that the two main characters are so innocent when it comes to flirting. It has this essence of young love. A form of love which is fresh, sweet, and sometimes cheesy but its okay, it will not make you cringe because the “kilig” factor will instantly pop up.

2. Perfect Casts

I feel so happy and blessed, because of 2gether: The Series I’ve met Bright and Win, not in person but at least in the series. Bright is the perfect Sarawat. You will definitely fell in love with his character throughout the series and wish that you’ll be his Tine instead. His character is the ideal boyfriend you will ask during your school years (well at least for me, he is). I mean, he’s popular, he has that bad boy look but he is not actually bad, mysterious type of person, he’s always chill, good-looking face, and loves music. And, how he makes “the moves” to Tine is so cute and sweet. If I were Tine I would be dead because of too much kilig. If you don’t get me, you better watch it right now. Win is so bubbly which suits the character of Tine. He also has the same energy as Tine. His cute and lively personality is one of the reasons why Sarawat fell in love to him. Did I mention he’s a straight guy? Well, now you know, it’s another reason why this series is interesting. A straight guy falling in love to another guy. I love those in denial scenes of Tine, with the help of his friends, they want to divert his attention to girls and some other things but it did not work. It will make you realize that love has no gender. Even if you fell in love to a gay person that doesn’t make you gay as well. You are what you are and you know who you are. It’s just that LOVE WINS! I applauded the professionalism of Bright and Win because these two are straight guys. Tine and Sarawat’s character are out of their comfort zones. Especially to Win, it is his first series and career as an actor. I mean, they experienced kissing each other which I think is kind of awkward for two straight guys but they pulled it off. I remember biting my hand and slapping my pillow because of the excessive kilig that I’ve experienced of that scene. For me, they embodied the role pretty well enough that they gave justice to the characters. Every cast did their best to give life to thid drama. I would not be this hyped if I was not impressed. And, I would like to thank Green because if not for him Sarawat and Tine will not be together.

Sidenote: In the books, Tine is actually a bottom.

3. The Atmosphere

Another reason why I super love 2gether the series is the environment they are in. They created this environment where it is normal to have boys love in the community. They have shown us in the series the acceptance of this type of love. They don’t have that gay shaming community and those “sayang” reactions of the people around them. It is not a big deal to Team Sarawat’s Wives if Sarawat is in a relationship with a man. Well, some are bitter because their crush is already in a relationship but at least they are not disappointed if Sarawat chose a boy instead of a girl. Some of Team Sarawat’s Wives ship them instead which is shown on episode 10. The environment they created is where I want to live in. I hope someday we could have that the same environment with no discriminations and no judgments just love and acceptance. We are free to love just like Sarawat and Tine.

4. Group Of Friends

I super love their crazy group of friends. I feel like that they are super fun to be with. Solid friends I must say. These friends of Tine and Sarawat are the most supportive friends ever. They are always there to help. They are all cute and funny altogether. Their part in the story gave colorful vibe that you will enjoy watching. It makes this series more relatable because of them. The bonding moments, the chats, the wise advices, and the messy plan they come up with are so funny. Watch out also for the other couple. Their chemistries are cute as well.

5. The Interludes

RAIKAN TOPENI! This will be stuck in your head every episode. You might memorize it unintentionally. You’ll just notice that your mouth is dubbing this intro. It will be the same to the commercials present in every episode. Its strangely fun and every fan out there can relate to this. This is the secret password for you to know if a person is a fan or not.

6. The Songs

The song gives life to every scene. It’s a feeling hidden in sounds. I kept every OST of the dramas I’ve watched as a memory. I always feel sentimental when it comes to the songs of every drama that I’ve loved. I treasured it so much. It felt like it is already part of me. Every time I listen to the songs it gives me the same vibe that I have felt while watching the drama same goes to the songs of 2gether the series. I love how the songs are being incorporated to the story. I’ve been listening to every Scrubb’s songs now. I’ve read the translation and it’s so beautiful to the point that it affected me. As what Tine’s said, “If you listen to Scrubb’s songs when you are happy, you will be even happier. If you listen when you are in love, you will be more deeply in love. If you listen to their songs when you are sad, you will feel better. It’s like someone is comforting you.” It is true; I felt that while listening to their songs. I really love this series and the songs make me more attached to it. I will be listening to their songs when I miss Sarawat and Tine.

7. The Love of Sarawat for Tine

The innocent love of Sarawat for Tine makes this whole series so adorable. The fact that he is the first one who fell in love to Tine is just cute. He even wrote a song for him. It makes me blush because I felt that the song is meant for me. Kidding aside, I will definitely love a guy who does that. The way he cares about Tine is awkward but it’s ok since he never has a relationship before. His loyalty is superb. From the moment he met Tine at the concert, he automatically lockdown his heart for him. It’s so sweet to have that kind of boyfriend. His obsession to Tine’s boobs is so funny. I laugh every time he asks permission to grab Tine’s boobs. He keeps on flirting with Tine but Tine is just in denial of his feeling for him. Well, I can’t blame him. All along he only focused on girls looking for the right one, not knowing the love his looking is right in front of his eyes.

Isn’t it wonderful to love and to be loved? Over-all this series is wholesome and will make you fall in love over and over again. This is my first BL series and it gave me the same vibe as the Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo. You’ll have that cuteness overload that will make you squeak anytime and it will inspire you for the rest of your life. I’ve finished watching every episode and I’m watching it again because I miss them so much and I can’t get over with it. I will be stuck in this series forever and the cure for this is season 2. I know that Bright and Win will be focusing on their studies which I am proud of but I can wait. I can wait GMMTV, director Champ, Bright, and Win. I am willing to wait. Just say the magic word.
